websurfer MOD kit pictures please?
Wsmod-1 and -2

New Messagewebsurfer MOD kit pictures please? (modified 0 times) ciaran
could we get pictures of the modkits? where they mount? Because your FAQs really don't cover it too well. Is it true that your WS-MOD2 kit takes away all functionality of the PCI and ISA slots? Why not make the WSMOD-1 3.5 inch compatible? thanks for the answers...

also, I've heard onboard IDE has some old limits on it... takes away chances of having a large HDD...

An easy way to mount a 2.5" drive.

1) Unplug unit, Pop off cover, take off front plastic panel.
2) take off the power switch (2 screws), turn it upside down, you need a needle nose plier
to slightly bend the switch contacts so the switch can be remounted upside down.
Try to bend it without moving the heat strink tubing too much, and do it gently so as to not to break it off.
To be safe, put some electrical tape on the botton on the case where the switch contacts wirh tubing touches
the case.
3) With the front panel off, on the left of the power switch, there is a hole you can use to connect
one screw to a 2.5" drive.
4) get a piece of wood block or something non-conductive, (I used wood I had laying around from home renovation)
you can even steal your sibilings/kids lego blocks to do this (but plastics can store static electricity, so
wood is better). Make up something that will support the bottom of the drive and keep it somewhat leveled.
Use double stick tape to secure the block to the case.
5) position drive on top of block and use the hole by the power switch to screw on the drive, must use a screw
with a head bigger than the hole.
6) On the front panel plastic, you'll see a plastic peg like thing that is supposed to go into the hole by the
power switch. Use a plier and break it off at the point where the tappering ends. There are at least 7 other
points used to stablize the front panel, so don't worry about losing one.
7) connect up you cables, etc... and let 'er rip...

I'm not sure, if something similar works with a 3.5" drive. I'll try that when I start messing with the other
WSPro I have.

Please post pics soon, I am waiting to copy and sell them. I am the original copycat, everything else is just a clone. I am the only one who sells them for $1 less.

The main page says that these were supposed to ship out the Saturday after the 11th. It's now the 22nd, and nothing has arrived... Anyone gotten one yet?

None here yet. I ordered on the first day they were available. Sure would be nice to see an update. 5/11 is long gone, and I don't think they shipped out that Saturday.

Codeman (or anyone else that has the answers)

I am starting on my WSMOD kit. I have spent hours looking at all the threads on the subjects, so I think I am prepared except for my lack of surgical soldering skills which I'll be developing as I go along.

My problem is that I think my WSMOD kit gave me both less AND more resistors than I need. Here's what's going on. My kit had the following resistors:

6 ea, "330" 4-paks - to be mounted next to the IDE header.
2 ea, "330" singles
1 ea, "201" single
8 ea, non-marked singles

I was expecting to get two pull-ups (R99 and R100), but don't have any between 1K and 20K (unless the unmarked ones are these, but then why would I get 8 of them)?

Codeman's Ad for these kits states "Complete installation instructions" included. This was also missing from my kit...

Any help would be much appreciated.
