New MessageNewsflash for the win95 image (modified 0 times) dogma
Hey I downloaded the image that was posted by Ozzy, and I used something called ASPACK to compress it. it is now 8 megs, thats right, 8 megabytes.

I guess thats that. there should be plenty of room now for drivers, Opera , Winamp......

have fun http://www.aspack.com/

hey this is great, I tried this and it worked great. windows even seems to load faster now. this is a great product....

I put opera and winamp on the image and all of the websurfer drivers. this thing rocks.

I also had room for some snes emulators, wow that really was a breakthrough dogma.

Will there be enough room for dialup networking with this? Ozzy's image (thanks Ozzy!) doesn't include DUN. Anyone added it or know what files need to be included? Thanks.

Sounds really cool, MaXX

- What files did you have to include to get DUN working?

Did you start with Ozzy's image?

El Barto, Ozzy's image is at /http://www.geocities.com/ozmister_2000/.

Thanks...don't hate me for this, but can someone point me in the way of finding out how to write to the DOC without having a hard drive on the system? I should receive my WebSurfer tommorow, if not, then Monday, and I wanna dive right in and play around with it. I don't know if I should buy the mount kit, or a kit this other guy has with all the passives to enable stuff, which is $9.99 + $2 shipping.

sorry all you must perform your own hack. It can definitly be done. Read old threads if you are having problems.

First you must have changed the bios settings,

1. Boot sequence to SCSI,D:
2. Go to integrated peripherals and disable all IDE stuff.
3. the HD you are booting from off of the controller card from must be set to active. I used my PC's
HD with the drive still in the Box pluggedm into the power supply for convinence.
4. In some cases the DOC must be removed before booting, then put back in after boot to write to it.
5. Dont worry, you can get a cheap controller card $15. it must have be capable of being booted off
of.
6. READ OLD THREADS -> there is a ton of info there
7. I will eventually post the image, I am still tweaking the image to perform well in the WS PRO.

sorry to bother here, but what irq is your isa ide controller on? i have tried everything short of pulling my hair out to get this to work. it is on irq 14, with everything on it disabled but the primary ide. it is a SIIG card, SI 1132+ that i got at compusa

thanks

New MessageRE:Newsflash for the win95 image (modified 0 times) dogma
disable all IDE. The irq doesn't matter unless the bios is reporting a conflict at boot time.

still no go. i am just using the hard drive from another computer so it is all setup and i know it works. the card was confirmed to work in another computer, and is bootable. all ide is disable, and i have tried booting from D,SCSI like you said, or C, CDROM like other posts have said. neither works. when i try ide autodetection that doesnt work in the slightest. i am starting to wonder if it was worth 117$ <compusa 250 price with discounts>

wont know now, i am returning it. so 117 plus 30 plus 30 = a lot of $ for something that i cant get to work. seems like comp usa wants it all back, even the isa ide card i tore stuff off of. hm

later

Pete

huh... uhhhhh... what......??????

lets see here, I guess this stuff was a little too technical for you out there in stupidville.
My first clue was that you paid over $50 for this thing. LOL
why do I even try to help those who cant help themselves???

Oh well this board is almost dead now anyway, Pete you probably had something to do with it dying down around here. No one with half of a brain likes to listen to stupid people for very long. I guess I just felt sorry for you.

I'm upset it's dying down...I just got mine today, been interested for a few weeks. It's a nice little box, I'm awaiting my mod kit to come in. I ordered all the passives from one guy...am I able to buy the IDE headers from Radio Shack? Or would I have to hunt the net for em? Maybe I should have just ordered the WD MOD2 kit :\

the DOC image at
http://www.geocities.com/ozmister_2000/
seems to be deleted. is there a copy anywhere else.

Its actually been deleted for at a while. I think Ozzy discovered that it didn't work after all. At least thats what alot of people were saying.
