RE:Circuit City Insert (modified 0 times) mynnyme I don't want to turn this into Tom's Hardware Forum, but Maxtor doesn't suck. I've been running 2 Maxtors for couple years no prob. Same people I know. Also recently I raided 2 Diamond Max 40 plus 20 giggers no prob also. These are the fastest IDE drives IMHO. IMB is good, but I have bad experience with Seagate. I lost 200Mb out of 3.2 gig in bad blocks on my Seagate in half a year. 04-29-2000 11:03:11

RE:Circuit City Insert (modified 0 times) Rick While were naming names... Don't buy Quantum either.. hehehe It's entirly posible that in general all manufacturers are producing better drives. All the drives I have had problems with are of the <4Gig variety. I'm a computer consultant, so I see alot of this stuff. I haven't heard of anyone complaining that there Anybrand 8gig went dead. But the first drive I was really happy with was a 1 gig IBM, and I've built a lot of computers with IBM Drives since then. My friend has a simular story with seagates, so he buys a lot of them, and latley we have been taking each others advice. So I'm starting to buy seagates, because they are cheaper than IBM. But I only put IBM in my main machine. I will probably put a 17gig seagate in the websurfer. --Rick 04-29-2000 11:19:23
