Websurfer in ICU

Guys, I need a little bit of assistance here. A few days ago my websurfer ceased to function. I don't know what the problem is, except for the fact that it just doesn't work. When I turn it on, I hear the hard drive spin up (it's running off of WS-PS) so I know it's not a power issue. The video display never comes up on the TV, and I tried hooking up a monitor to it to see if it would show anything there. No go. Tried reseating the processor and even underclocking it back to 180, and still no go. Any tips are greatly appreciated. Thanks...and whoever helps me figure out this problem, I'll buy you a woman.

Did you try removing and reseating the memory module? Try cleaning the contacts on the module only with pure denatured alcohol moistened clean wipes. Let dry. Reinstall. ***NOTE*** Observe all ESD precautions before performing this task.

I wiped the memory module off with a soft cloth before I first posted the first message, but it didn't do anything. I also tried to slap a 64MB stick of Crucial and a 128MB stick of Micron, but it didn't like either of those either. I thought about clearing the CMOS to see if that would do anything, but diversity's site went down some time ago I think, and I can't find the PDF manual. Which jumper do you move to reset the CMOS? Thanks.

It's right there between the battery & DIMM socket. Normal is the middle & rear pin & clear is the middle & front.

if there are no beeps I think you have a power problem. I bet there is no power getting to the processor. Perhaps a voltage regulator went south. Did you have it on a protected circuit?

Ah dogsh*t. Well...I found the CMOS clear jumper, tried it, and it didn't help. It was on a surge protector...a 200-year old POS one though. No it doens't beep or anything, so I take it that I have this really b*tchin door stop now. If the regulator went out, you think the CPU still works?...maybe I can sell the parts out of it and make at least some money back. Thanks guys.

I've had the same problem a couple of times where that machine just wouldn't seem to start. In my case, the riser card wasn't seated. In fact, the fit seems to be a bit loose even on good days. You can give that a try.

Or, thinking in a purely logical manner, maybe the video chip is shot...

Hope you find the answer!

Did you test the power going to the mofo board? Perhaps there is power to the HD and none to the mobo. Don't trash it just yet. Got another one to compare it to?
Getting back to my 1st post, try measuring voltage at the voltage regulator going to the processor.
