NYC Compusa
Got 2 @ 10:15 am est

New MessageNYC Compusa (modified 0 times) chrisd
Where: NYC, 37th St. & 5th, CompUSA
TOS: No
Limit: no limit, I got 2
Sign: no sign with price, no plastic wrapped TOS on box.
Comments: PAID CASH, gladly.

The guy even told me you can "throw a harddrive in it and turn it into a real computer." I said, "Oh, I don't know about any of that, but I'm sure my Mom will love it." I paid without problem, but with manager approval at the register. I didn't even show the web printout. The security guy asked, "What ti hell is is mon?" I said, "You surf the Internet with it on your TV." To which he replied, "What ti hell, I must've sold 20 of tees tings tis monin'[morning]." I simply said, "It's a great price, you should pick one up." Then I walked out. They have more, but they are all in the back. Only one out for demo, so I don't know how many they have left.

chrisd,

Don't forget to check out the "user groups in your area" board. I'm try to get some NYCers together for some hacking fun. Look for the "New York Freeaking City" thread.

As of 8:30AM this morning when the store opened, there were 27, 9 was sold instantly (I got one of them). So I guess there is 20 something left. Absolutely no TOS, and they dont have a clue what it is. Better hurry as the staff are holding them for themselves. Remember to bring Web Site Price Printout.

Got 2 yesterday, need to bring print out!!!
A sales drone didn't let me buy it for $49.99 in the morning, went to office
printed out web page, then went back in the afternoon.

So how many hackers are in NYC? or do they just not frequent CompUSA much...
usually lots of clueless people at CompUSA, tourists, customers and drones...

Is the usergroup just for IO? Anyone in NYC want to talk about WSP?

forget about the 57th street store. some lucky guy took the last one before me. he's probably grinning right now. we saw the i-opener on display, but even though I had a backorder slip, they wouldn't give it to me. I didn't really push the matter though. I'm such a whimp.

Any left at the 37th and 5th?

I went this morning to CompUSA on 37 & 5th around 10:30 and asked if they got the IOs in.The sales rep. told me no,but they have this thing called the " websurfer Pro " on sale for $49.99. He also tried the sell me this "i-phone?" thing. I told him to just give me a WSP. He said there was about 25 WSP this morning, but that there are only about 10 left& that he had 2 in the back for himself.Looks like he didn't know about the TOS, & I didn't ask. Just paid for my WSP & ran.
