333Mhz for $35 + shipping

New Message333Mhz for $35 + shipping (modified 0 times) Rick
OK, I hope I didn't get everyone too excited. It seems that no one can find these Cyrix CPUs for a resonable price, but what I did find is a Socket 7 Peltier cooler for $35 (with the fan and all). With this we should be able to do 333Mhz (33.3x10) with no problem (I'm guessing). Right now I have mine up to 266Mhz with no problem and that's just with a big heat sink and some thermal greese. If you don't know what Peltier is check out http://www.anandtech.com/showdoc.html?i=1104&p=2 . Anyway the one I found is here http://store.yahoo.com/coolingfan/thermalgrease.html . It says it consumes 40 watts from the power supply. It's an 80 watt power supply and I'm guessing the CPU only takes a max of 20 watts. But I don't know for sure. I think there is enough power. I haven't ordered mine yet, I'm looking for opinions.

Thanx,

The Power supply is only 45 Watts -- 40 for the pelt and 20 for the CPU alone is already overloading it 25%

I don't know about you..

Bu both my unit's will not post at anything higher then 268 mhz.

I figured it's something with the 180mhz chip not accepting the higher multiplier's (9+10)

Because both mine did 266 without even adding a different heatsink. (which I did later)

They should at least boot then lock up I would guess at anything higher..

So maybe its the board, or the 180 chip itself possibly.

You can get higher FSB, just short out pins 4 and 5 on the clock chip. That puts the clock chip into turbo mode. I've booted at 274Mhz. The problem is that none of the MMX/3DNow instruction will run. Sandra crashs when you try to run the MMX test. Other tests runs just fine. I think it has to something to do w/ the MMX stuff is partially off loaded into the CS5530 and that just can't handle higher speed FSB. So I'm just running 266 right now.
