Massive hysteria over actual information

New MessageMassive hysteria over actual information (modified 0 times) DarkKobold
With the mass hysteria of everyone trying to get their own Websurfer Pro (I-opener wannabe) a lot of valuble information is missing. First, no one has mentioned anything about TV output. How is the resolution? How is a hard drive going to fit in the case? How is the hard drive going to get power?
Just looking for some stuff more then "I ripped off CompUSA for 38 billion of these!!!"

Video to TV is a big issue for me. I am hoping to use this as a Nintendo/Genesis/SNES/MAME emulator. Also wondering if I do the soldering of the original IDE pins if I can use one of the slots as a game card to daisy chain some sidewinders from. Here's hoping!

It looks like there are some components missing common to the IDE area of the board.....

Well here is what I have learned so far.

1. There is a 5v power lead right above IDE header. Simply add wires and you have power for a harddrive.

2. There really is not much room for a 3.5 hdd in the case, so to keep it looking good I am going to use the tabs right above the processor on the front of the case to mount a 2.5 hdd with a 2.5 ==> 3.5 adapter. Then install an old ISA IDE controller card(I traded my friend for the modem that came with it). I am going to then going to run power from the 5v lead to the adapter board connected to the 2.5 drive.

3. Then Install 98se like one would an I-Opener

note, the video to your tv is fine it's your tv that sucks.
if your TV didnt cost $1500.00 and has a VGA connector on it then it will suck.
(Note, this is WHY theorigional software has BIG letters.)

Please, dont blame the websurfer, blame your tv.

The following is nothing special. It's just a bunch of links to the technical section.

It's missing components for the motherboard IDE controller. They can be soldered in.
The diffuculty rating is high since you are soldering surface mount components.

The motherboard ethernet controller is missing too. That is a huge problem since the chip has tiny leads.
Don't try this at home. Check out this thread: http://www.linux-hacker.net/cgi-bin/UltraBoard/UltraBoard.pl?Action=ShowPost&Board=wstech&Post=231&Idle=0&Sort=0&Order=Descend&Page=0&Session=
