 | Websurfer (and COMPUSA) needs to rethink their marketing stategy and policies. (modified 0 times) | SteveInAZ | |
| I went into COMPUSA today to buy 2 websurfers for Mother's Day gifts (at least that's what I told them.) They said I had to sign up for service. I explained that they were gifts. I was going to pay for the machine, then my grandmothers would pay for the service. They said bring the grandmas in and sign em up! I explained that they lived out of state. The clerk called the manager and the manager said "too bad" but in a few more words.
So, Websurfer wants to target the few people out there (those that are old and/or scared of computers) with a machine that lets them surf and check email? Great idea. Yet they expect these same people, who haven't bothered to get a machine so far, to actually come into a computer store (which can be freightening to some) and buy this thing. Good luck. If these can't be given as gifts, they might as well close up shop right now. They are dead.
