"Please, no for sale posts, try e-bay, thanks."

Please explain that, since I see a variety of for sale posts all
over this board for whole machines, broken machines, and parts of
all descriptions.

Not-any-less Grumpy than before.

Actually, I don't mind the for sale postings. Quite a few people here have offered some interesting items for sale -- the IO stickers, for example ... or the guy who is making available the Websurfer resistor packs cheaply ... or another guy who had a spare IO HD cable and let it go at cost ... OR CODEMAN AND HARDWARE1 kits for that matter. Really, the other guys who are selling the IO and Websurfer units are more entertaining than anything else; if they're big boys and can take the flaming, then who cares? I don't see this as a huge problem. And I'd rather not blanket-prohibit all sales here just to eliminate the few profiteers who emerge here and there. Too much reactive legislation going on sometimes, I think.

I'm wondering why Netronin's offer to sell 3 Websurfers
got deleted before he saw that I was the first one to put my
request in for one. Now that he can't sell them here, we all
can go to eBay and pay over $200 each for what he was wanting to
sell for $70 each here in our little community of hardware
hackers. I guess that means that it's OK to sell here only
if you're really elite or kewl. What is hear is "Do as I say,
not as I do." Whatever.

Seig Heil!

Scam, Fraud, Rip-Off to name a few. e-bay has insurance.

Codeman and I agree that this is not the place for this.

You have no clue who these guys are on this system.

"OR CODEMAN AND HARDWARE1 kits for that matter", you know who codeman is. He pays for this *seperate* Linux server box at colocation w/T3 conn, why is this a problem?

It's too bad you guys are not allowing these posts. I had to take two units
back to CU today because I didn't want to get stuck with them (no time to mod)
and wasn't about to play "ebay" with these things. I was just trying to pass
on a good deal to some of the regular's here.

I see what Seneca it talking about-I was the third one to post to Netronin's offer and when I checked in the morning the posting was gone. I was and am really bummed because I don't even live close to a CU and was unable to get one of these OR an IO. Totally missed out-people on Ebay are really screwing others by selling the WS for $250+. I see hardware1 and Codeman's point though and we could get screwed but...I considered that when I replied to the posting in the first place and decided it was worth the risk-you can get screwed on Ebay too-been there..done that-you don't get any insurance-and if it happens there it will be for $250 not $70. You guys have a great community here and I don't think that it would hurt-things get around so fast on this BB anyway it could only happen once or twice and then everyone would know-you know? JMTC Capp BTW I have had to resort to the Virgin WP for lack of an IO or WS

no one is stupid enough to return these when you could get $200 on ebay
if he really wanted to he could put it up on yahoo and post saying 'go over to yahoo there is something there for you'
make the auction 1 day max and give it away cheap
I don't know if the buyer here is a hacker or a ebay jerk!
I can make up a sob story about how I sat on my ass and missed out on a one week window and just couldn't get my mom drive me, gas is so high I had to save up all my penies to get over there, then when I got there they were all gone, boo hoo someone help me, please send me one, I am at
big-rich-seller@ebaynot.com

please help me out, I am a poor lame soul.

I did actually take two back to CU. I'm not into screwing people over on ebay ($250 for a $50 pc)
and really didn't have time to mess with it. I've been posting on this board from the begining and
am certainly not an ebay scammer (you can search for my past posts). I can see the point codeman
and hardware1 are trying to make, it's just too bad some of the local's here couldn't have benefited
by my extra units.

You think that because I didn't get one I'm young and I need my mommy to drive me-wrong it's because I work and I have a family and I REALLY don't live near to a CU or CC-minimum 1.5 hours to CU and 1 hour to CC. Some of us just have other things to do. You think you are some how better than me?? "I don't know if this seller is a hacker or an Ebay jerk" I bet you were not a hacker at some point in your life either-JUST AN INTERESTED ENTHUSIAST-OR DID YOU COME OUT HACKING 286s????????? It's people like you that give hackers a negative image-elitist, arogant, petty, malicious and sepratist. Remember something-it is better to be thought a fool than to speak up and remove all doubt.
You are right-I am not much of a hacker but I am interested and I was voicing a reasonable assessment of the situation from both sides-if you don't like it-so what? Even non HACKERS get to read and post to this board. If you read these messages it is clear that not all of the individuals that are on this board are Codeman or Hardware1-the degrees of involvment and knowledge vary alot. I didn't see Codeman or Hardware1 offended that posted to this board-why do you feel that it is your duty to defend everyone here from my postings? (By the way don't bother to answer any of the questions in this post -they are retorical -JUST IN CASE THAT GOT BY YOU WHILE YOU WERE BEING A REAL HACKER!)

Oh by the way I miss quoted the SUPER HACKER -it should be "buyer" not seller but what difference does it really make?

eBay insurance isn't all it's cracked up to be. I recently had the "opportunity" to take advantage of it. It only covers up to $250, and there's a $50 deductable.. The deductable alone would have paid for most of neutrino's WSP.

I know where he's coming from. Selling crap on eBay is a major hassle, especially for something this small. The only people bidding them up to $250 have the big (0) for feedback -- go check. I too would much rather pass an extra off to another hacker who wasn't able to take advantage of the deal.

Just want to ask the WSP owners out there, how much do you think a WSP should go for on an auction?

New MessageRE: (modified 0 times) sellit
$50 if you are stupid.
$300 if you are greedy.

Pick something inbetween. Ask your mother.

I paid my rent this month thanks to WebSurfer Inc. Last 3 months it was NP that paid my rent. This is not a small place I live in. I want to move to a even bigger mansion soon. Would you all please find something new to hack? I can't quite pay my grocerie and power bill yet. Plus I am getting tired of ask jeves on the net and want a real butler.
