 | Anyone have success with PCI IDE cards? (modified 0 times) | froo | |
| A poster in the "minor probs" thread mentioned having problems with the Promise ultra ata controller (I'm assuming it's PCI). When I got home tonight with my WebSurfer, I tried using an old "Data Tech" PCI EIDE controller from way-back, and I couldn't get it to work. After disabling the on-board IDE, I could get the drive detected in the bios, but it would never boot. It wouldn't list any drives, and then it'd think for a minute or two before giving the disk boot error. A friend of mine bought a new PCI Ultra DMA/33 card today for his Websurfer, and got his drive recognized as D:, but never booted.
Have the rest of you had the same results? It sounds like I'm going to have to go out and get an ISA EIDE card, but I don't see why the PCI wouldn't work. Who out there has had success, and with which cards? | |
