Is anyone else experiencing problems with the new modified BIOS while booting? Every thing was ok with the old BIOS. I had win98 on a IBM 2.1G 2.5" drive, no DOC. I tried a Seagate 1.2G, no luck. The new BIOS will autodetect the drive but it will comeup with "press key to reboot" every time. I put DOS6.22 on also. same thing. Now a previously installed DOS6.22 on a 500Meg drive will boot just fine with the new bios. Beats me. Drive geometery problem? I have tried lots of thing even sam settings as Misfit. No joy. I can alway just reburn the old BIOS on my EMP20 programmer and be happy with a ISA LAN card. I would like to get the onboard LAN going and the old BIOS should effect that also.

Quick question: how do you modify the BIOS? do I have to boot into DOS, first? or do you do it through QNX? Thanks.

You need to set your boot partition to active using fdisk. You would have to do that off of another computer since there is no floppy on the websurfer.

I have not had any problems with 3 different drives, with the NEW modified bios.
(does not mean it's you, just that I have had 3 out of 3 work for me)
1 - 2 Gig
1 - 6.4 Gig
1 - 2.5 Gig
Make sure your power off the unit then back on when you try changing settings. I don't think a warm reboot makes any changes you make catch sometimes..
timlee: I used command mode (or whatever) F8 when windows starts up. used the award burning util. I have a burner also. reburned this way, just in case, also. No joy.
Rick: Yes, I used another system and active partion was set every time. :)
Misfit: I might have missed a few reboot using the 3 finger salute but I power cycle most of the time. Ill keep working on it. :)

With the newer BIOS is there floppy support?
Is it working with an external controller?
I am planning on trying the internal Floppy controller, but I would like to know it it looks like there is support.

Hey guys... this is a possibility as well. make sure that you are using LBA on both computers that are accessing the drive. If one is using LBA and the other is using CHS or BigCHS, you will only get problems, no booting.
