Hard drive -controllercard issues (modified 0 times)

It seems certain hard drives have a problem being rcognized by the websrfer. From reading a lot of the posts some people cant get a controller card to work. it may be the drive. i found this out after hosing my 1 gig western digital. i tried several diferrent ones after and only some worked. i had previously installed the onboard ide so this was definitally not a controller card problem.
Thes are the drives i tried:
western digital 1 gig-worked fine with isa card and onboard Ide
samsung 250 meg - worked fine with isa and onboard
samsung 1 gig - no go with Isa or onboard
seagate 1.7 gig - no go with isa or onboard (tried 2)
maxtor 8.4 gig - worked fine with isa and onboard
maxtor 15 gig - i,m writing this on it now :)
i have tried 3 different isa controller cards (old generic) and all work well WITH the correct drive. i'm now using the onboard ide so i can use a isa network card. Post your sucess/failure with different hard drivesso we know which ones to stay away from.
