I am unable to get my websurfer to boot from my hard drive. I formatted and installed Win 98 lite on my Maxtor 90576d4 5.7 gb drive.
I have my dip switch set as master.
Here is how I have the Bios set up
IDE HDD Block mode - Disabled
Primary Ide Channel - Enabled
Master Drive IO MODE - Auto
Slave Drive PIO Mode - Auto
IDE Primary Master UDMA - Disabled
IDE Primary Slave UDMA - Disabled
On board Serial Port 1 - Disabled
On board Serial Port 2 - Disabled
On board Parallel Port - Disabled
I check to make sure the drive was good in another computer, and my cable is brand new.
Seeing everyones success just makes it a little more frustrating. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

try disabling ide interface in the BIOS completely then go back in the BIOS and auto detect hard drive. it should find it off the isa controller. I was UNABLE to get my promise PCI ultra 33 controller to work although others have claimed they have it up and running. mine is installing 98 as we speak onto a 2.5" laptop drive. I may follow advise to flash the BIOS and try again with the PCI card. Hope this works for you.
