Onboard IDE, LAN, Moderm & LED HD are working

New MessageOnboard IDE, LAN, Moderm & LED HD are working. (modified 0 times) KEY5000
First, I would like to say thank you to the Linux-Hacker site and all the people that submited the questions & answer to help make this WSP working with low cost

Finaly I make my WSP working with 266MHZ, 80MB memory, 10G HD (lap top size fit right between PS & momory ), 3Com LAN & PCI moderm (Removed network holder and it will fit with PCI moderm on one out put from the back of the case)

The only problem I have right now is the secondary CD Rom or DVD which I set it to slave. On the boot up Post screen, I do see the bios detected the CD Rom or DVD but when I go to the window ( win98 sec ) I did not see the CD Rom Or DVD. I already try to used hardware detect but still can not see the CD Rom or DVD.

Is any body know how to make the CD Rom or DVD or second HD working ( set as slave or master )on hacked "on board" IDE? If so, please respond to this message.

Thank you

WSP Hacker

Try setting the CD/DVD as master instead.

Yes, I already try to set the CD/DVD or use 2nd HD as master but it still does not see it in the Window mode. Yes, the bios does see those device when the Post screen.

Profile
I have my Sony CDROM set on the slave side with the selection set to none in the bios for the save side. I have the dos driver in the autoexec.bat that detects and assigns the drive letter. Works fine win98.

Did you do anything special to make the HD LED work?

To get the HD LED working, I pulled the right pins (the yellow and black one that were next to eachother) from the LED connector on the front left of the motherboard, then I plugged em into the ISA LED spot on my ISA controller board.

As for the onboard IDE, I have successfully used a 2X cdrom drive as a slave on the internal IDE. If I attempt to hook up my DVD or 24X cdrom they can be detected in bios, but windows either doesn't see them or gives me read errors. I have checked all solder connections and the only thing I can think of is poor signal strength or interference. I assume this because a slow drive will work but the faster ones will not.

To get the internal IDE to access the HDD LED you need to add a surface mount resistor near the DOC. There are threads that give the correct value and exact location. Can't remember at the moment.
