PCI NIC + ISA IDE works with old bios

I got windows 95 to boot up using an ISA IDE card, I then added a Netgear 310TX NIC and it was recognised immediately by the original BIOS.

I used an old Seagate IDE and a cheep Addtron 10/100 Nic. Both installed fine and win95 OSR2 thought everything was fine in the control panel but it couldn't see my net. I flashed with misfit's first bios and all was fine. The problem appears to be with Int15 support on the PCI bridge, maybe your nic chose a different line to squat on.

doh
After talking to the cable modem people for an hour, I read more threads, updated my bios and now the NIC that windoze saw to be working wonderfully is doing just that. It wasn't doing sh** before the BIOS update.

dermot, I have the same NIC card (310TX) and a Promise EIDEMAX II ISA card. Windows 95 OSR2 picked the card up fine, but I still can't send anything over the network. I've tried changing settings in the BIOS, but I have had no success. What IDE card do you have? What IRQ and memory range is it using? What are your BIOS settings? What Audio, Video, and PCI bridge drivers are you using?

Thanx,

--Rick

Anyone have a particularly good suggestion for a thin ISA IDE controller (new)? The one I've seen at CompUSA has the headers mounted perpendicular to the board. I'm not sure it would fit well. Also, it's one of those dang multi-IO boards with connectors all over it. Anyone know of where to pick up just a good plain-jane new ISA IDE board? Optimally with the 90deg headers? Thanks.
