I need to hook-up a modem, can ya help? My ISA card has a com1 an 2 port but no go? Of course I could mount on-board Com ports and ide but got a shaky hhaaannnddd? Help! Old UNK IDE controller.

Remember that there are two motherboard com ports (one has it's chip missing on the motherboard). They're probably conflicting with the ISA card's com ports.

Try disabling the motherboard com ports in the BIOS.

You could use the onboard com ports. See other posts on how to do this, but the instructions are not straightforward. Don't believe me though. I havn't used the motherboard com ports myself yet.
