|Problem enabling USB on 98SE (modified 0 times) ||Brian|S||
It seems that there has been 1 thread in which someone had problems enabling the USB, but his question was not answered. I feel like the solution must be right under my nose :) I appologize if the information *has* already been posted on this board.
My USB is detected under Win98SE as Compaq PCI USB Host Controller (<-If my memory serves me) Win98 will recommend two USB drivers for the device. The Compaq one, and another generic one I believe. However, the system will lock up hard when I try and install either driver. My USB *is* enabled in the BIOS, and this has occured on at least two Win98 installations in my websurfer. I'm using the HotRod66 PCI IDE controller. I've got everything else working on this thing, but the USB has me dumbfounded. I would greatly appreciate any help!
