Video flicker caused by CPU idle? (modified 0 times)
Dr. Ion
I have the WSP running Win98, and the video flickers pretty bad -- both on the VGA monitor and on the NTSC outputs. The flicker on the Video out is especially bad because it causes the cheapo Video LCD panel to loose color sync for half the frame.
Anyway, I noticed that the flicker is greatly reduced by running the RC5 (distributed.net) client! Weird how *more* CPU activity would improve the picture. Is it possible this is caused by the "green" CPU idle feature? I have it set to the default 33% setting in the BIOS. What exactly does this value represent? Can anyone else confirm if busying up the CPU cuts down on flicker? I'd really like to find a fix, since it's thrashing my flat-panel picture.
