Well, after many, many hours of working on it... I finally have the thing booting linux off the DOC, finding the ethernet card and playing MP3s over the network. The network card was probably the hardest part of the whole thing, since due to the bent pin in the riser card socket (see the topic Linux misidentifies PCI NICs for more info) Then they joyous problem of the machine freaking out anytime it tried to play sound, apparently the MPU401 is buggy (at least mine is and causes the interrupt to basically trip endlessly and put the machine into an infinite loop, finally just turned off that off in the Bios and boom. I did flash the bios, but dunno if it was necessary or not. Anyway, just wanted to post a my triumph  | |
