ide controller disables entire ws?
when ide controller is plugged in, ws fails to even boot

New Messageide controller disables entire ws? (modified 0 times) narcolepsy
can anyone help me on this? ive tried just about everything and its driving me up the wall. i can get the websurfer to boot the cmos, but only when i dont have the ide controller in. i am using a SIIG SI-1132+. my hard drive is powered by tapping into the power supply of the websurfer, and the light on the HD lights up when i turn it on. yet when i insert the ide controller and attempt to boot, nothing happens. the odd thing is that when the ide is in, the fan fails to work as well. is this a power issue? any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

You've got a short. Maybe a dead IDE controller. Check all your cabling for polarity.

i am using this card too, same sort of problem, no boot. but the fan works fine. i have bought and tried two of these cards from compusa in case they were broken, and followed the instructions explicitly from this BBS. any ideas?

thanks
Pete
