Trouble w/ Jailbait 5.1

New MessageTrouble w/ Jailbait 5.1 (modified 0 times) Chagrin
I used Dolly to install Jailbait 5.1 on my Websurfer. The flash appeared to work well, and things look pretty good - I see the penguin, and it starts to boot. But it eventually hangs with the following message:

VFS: Cannot open root device "341" or 03:41
Please append a correct "root=" boot option
Kernel panic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on 03:41

Am I doing something wrong, or is there something I can do to get around this? Thanks in advance.

Your kernel does not have support for the DOC. Unlike the Sandisk on the I-Opener, the DOC in the Websurfer is not an IDE device. It needs special kernel support through patches. Check out the M-systems website at http://www.m-sys.com for instructions on Linux support for the DOC.

Is the source for Jailbait available, so that it can be patched with the necessary DOC drivers? It would be nice if both my i-Opener and my Websurfer could run the same version of everything.

check the ftp link that's listed on jailbait.sourceforge.net

in that directory is the config file he used. start from that and you can add the msys DOC driver.

I'm not seeing the config file anywhere. Why doesn't someone just upload a working Linux image?!

"Why doesn't somebody just upload a working Linux image..." - Cause it's got to be created first, that's why. :>

If you have access to a linux box you can modify the jailbait image - uncompress it and mount it as a loop back filesystem - I can't remember the command but I think it's listed in the docs available off the jailbait site.

<"Why doesn't somebody just upload a working Linux image..." - Cause it's got to be created first, that's why. > Come on there are a dozen images for the i-opener, what's the real issue here? Adding DOC support to Jailbait sounds like a no brainer. Am I missing something here? Why aren't there images available?

Billy-Bob if it's a no brainer, where can I download the image you created

Maybe if the nice Jailbait folks would make something other then a compiled image available I would add the support. Not sure why they just don't do that themselves, actually. Looking more and more like I'm going to have to do this myself. W/ the exception of my i-opener, I don't have a working Linux box right now to create the image on. I guess I'll have to format a Linux partition on my NT box's new harddrive - since you lazy F*&^s wont do it.
