DIMM Slots...?
Do both work and what type of DIMM is in there?

New MessageDIMM Slots...? (modified 0 times) Beeblebrox
Sorry if this has been answered, but has anyone had success with both DIMM slots working in the WSP? I heard only one will function. Also, can someone tell me what type of DIMM is that standard 16 meg module? I don't have one here to examine, but I remember it's looks like a 4x64. Is it a PC-66 or PC-100?

Thanks!

yes, both DIMM sockets work. I believe that the 16 that comes with it is pc100. Regardless of the 16 though, I put a 64meg pc100 chip in and it works fine :)

Great, cause I didn't want to buy anything taller than a 4-chip module because I want to internally mount my 3.5" drive. Meaning, I'll be able to stick a 32MB module in there next to the 16 and have a respectable 48 megs without having spent too much or taken up any more height in the case (my WD 1gig will fit just fine resting on top of the DIMMs as long as they're no higher than the standard one). Mounting over the ps just doesn't sit well with me, and I think this'll fit just fine.

Alternatively, I wanted to know if I could use the 16 meg modules elsewhere (and since they're pc-100 I can) in case I stick a 64meg module in there (80 megs is way overkill for what I want these machines to do, and I'd rather have the two standard modules add 32megs to a desktop that could use em).

So anyway, that 16MB will work along with a pc-100 32MB? Great. Thanks for the help!

I tried to use my 16 MB dimm from WSP in a motherboard that requires PC100 and it was a no go. Check it out with your hardware before you assume that it is PC100.

The SDIMMS are pc66, but of course you could throw a pc100 in the socket too...
