Flashing BIOS & floppy drive (modified 0 times) Enrico_Suave Anyone try updating the BIOS with the alternative ones in order to get a Floppy drive to work? (HDwith any success) I'd appreciate any info/pointers/etc... Thanks... FWIW I'm trying to install linux on to a HD, and i'm not having any luck booting from CD.. or installing the distro on another machine and swapping the HD into the websurfer...(I get fatal kernal errors on boot...) RE:Flashing BIOS & floppy drive (modified 0 times) Enrico_Suave I was using the Mandrake 7.0 distro that came with this months maximum linux magazine... I'm just kinda dicking around... Will a "vanilla" distro not work on the websurfer? My issue is that i can install the distro from a floppy no prob.. but the default websurfer bios doesn't allow for a floppy drive... The crux of my question is whether the alternative bios's allow for "definition"/use of a floppy... Based on the thread above maybe there is more I need to consider... *Shrug* I may be better off working w/DOS on the webserver and use another machine for my lnx learning/experiment machine... *shrug* but then again I have more plans/ideas than I do physical HD's =) Erik 05-26-2000 11:55:57
