Hi all,
Sorry if this was answered someplace else. I looked and didn't find anything exactly like it.. Here goes...

I'm wondering if it would be possible to set up my WS with a more or less stripped down version of Linux (comand line mode only), sound drivers, USB ethernet drivers for my SMC2202, a simple MP3 player, maybe some custom written playlist system to control everything onto the DOC. Then ALSO have a hard drive (for storing a large amount of MP3's) AND a CD-Rom drive hooked up via an ISA IDE interface card to play normal audio CD's or load in more MP3's.

Can all those be accessable through Linux?

Ok, next question... I'm more or less a linux newbie. I know some basic unix, but it's been about 5 years since I've done any serious Unix stuff. How would one go about setting something like this up (try to go step-by-step if possible....) I don't have another Linux machine, just a Win98 box although if need be I can yank the hard drive and throw in another one to put linux on.

Thanks!

I'm sure others would be interested in a solution such as this too.
