MP3 Visualizations Possibilities
MusicMatch Plugins

New MessageMP3 Visualizations Possibilities (modified 0 times) Hawk
I use MusicMatch to play MP3s on my WebSurfer and they run great. However, it would be cool to be able to use a full-screen visualization while the tunes are playing. The CPU power definitely limits any attempts at this, so I'm looking for others experience in trying to get this to work. Here are the things I've tried:
-added a PCI Matrox Mystique graphics card in an attempt to take the graphics processing load off the proc, but didn't seem to help much
-used the MusicMatch G-Force plugin at low res, but still took too much proc power.
-thinking about getting the faster MediaGx proc and overclocking to get more horsepower, but I'm starting wonder if it would do any good...

After overclocking to 266 and upping the memory, I tried even the simplest of visualization routines on my WS. Painfully slow (yes, even "Mr. Goochie"). Had some "success" with WhiteCap, but nothing impressive. If you're using WinAmp, you might settle for the useful WinAmp on TV plugin, which makes the UI fit the whole screen and is easy to read and navigate. You can readily find it on the winamp site.

Anyone else get this to display anything good? I mean, even just a nice fullscreen scope or graphic equalizer would beat looking at the desktop (or the fullscreen UI IMHO).

Okay, now I'm smelling possibilities galore:

Just wondering if this thing has the processing power to do this (but it doesn't seem like it would take much). Forget fullscreen visualizations...how about full room visualization?
