How do you contact Websurfer for RMA?
PLEASE HELP

New MessageHow do you contact Websurfer for RMA? (modified 0 times) Screwed
I somehow fried my Websurfer. It won't show video anymore. It will power on, but no video. I tried changing out the ram, but nothing happened. If you try and call the customer service line at 905-475-7979, it just rings. How are you even supposed to get service? I tried calling their HQ at 905-944-8888, but the number is disconnected. I even did a whois on the websurfer.com domain, but the number is the same as their webpage. Compusa won't give me an exchange or refund because it has been over 14 days, but the thing is still under the Websurfer 90 day warranty. Does anybody have another phone number they can be reached at? I tried calling the place they registered their domain with, but no dice. The whois shows an address in Mountain View, CA, but no phone number. PLEASE HELP! I'm dying here.

Well, I hate to be the bearer of bad news but:
As you have discovered, it appears that the websurfer people have gone belly up. The phone number the thing phones home on is disconnected, and as you've discovered, they have no live people answering phones. Is anyone out there using it for INNOVATOR's INTENDED purpose, does it still work?
Second, you'd find that the waranty stuff (at least on mine) says you only get the waranty if you activate the service. I assume you've been using this as a computer. In other words, you're screwed twice unless you can fix it yourself
If you are interested in selling the thing as-is, email me @ erickotz@my-deja.com Sorry

I'm not certain how you ended up with no video, but, if it happened after a bios setting change, the fix is easy......Disconnect from the AC. Remove the jumper on the M-board marked Normal (by the powersupply side of the board) and put it on the pins named reset for 3to4 seconds only. Then return to normal. If it works you have changed the bios settings to default. You will then have to go into the setup screen again and restore your original settings.

hmmmmn, Lemme try to hack it..... Oops I "somehow" fried it.... I wonder if its stupid of me to expect them to honor a warrantee that I crapped on when I opened up the system. Dude you tried to screw them and ended up getting screwed yourself. Live and learn. Anytime you try to mod something you should be willing to have a paperweight should you screw it up. And please don't say you were using it for it's intended purpose, We're not CompUSA.

Guess what moron, I was using it legit. I was asking a simple question based on past experiences on this group. I'm not trying to screw them, I think they screwed us all. What happens to the people who innocently purchased the item and now have no recourse? I was gonna hack it later on, but my wife was using it in the mean time for it's intended purpose. Why do people feel the need not to help, yet add their two cents in a negative way?

Damn!!!! I'm Effin pissed!!!! Would you beleive Mercedes Benz doesn't honor their warrantees? They won't replace or fix my car just because I used it to go off roadin'. The nerve of some companies, The car has 4 wheels so it shouldn't be so odd that I took it 4 wheelin'. They say I used the car in a manner that it to was not intended be used in. Bah. Maybe so but I still think they should be responsible, after all they weren't holding my hand, making sure I didn't goof up. I tried saying the damned thing screwed up on the highway but all the mud on the car and the fact that they had to tow it out of a pit kinda gave me away. They should still fix it for free though. I'm the customer and like they say... The customer is ALWAYS right!!!!!

If Websurfer have really gone belly up (doubtful?) then other companies using the same hardware might be able to help you locate them.

The original hardware manufacturer (probably GCT-Allwell based in Taiwan and California) are at 714.259.5299 (contact there is Tony?) - from their website gctallwell

Another company uing the websurfer hardware (calling it the Nutshell) are Cedar systems in WA (425.452.9496) cedarsystems

Best of luck!

Actually if you are a legitimate Websurfer Pro customer whose unit doesn't work and you can't get through to Websurfer, go ahead and escalate your problem through CompUSA. Explain to them your dilemma, that when you bought the unit you were promised a 90 day warranty but that the company doesn't answer their phones anymore. CompUSA will most likely offer to refund your money. Give it a try, and keep us posted.
