Its quite easy getting linux to boot off of the DiskOnChip and probably a lot less of a hassle then burning a prom. If there is any interest in the complete 2.2.16 source with DOC support and USB already patched let me know and ill dump it online somewhere. I jusr dropped the kernel on the DOC, plilo'd with nfsroot option and away I went, diskless workstation.

I burned a PROM for my wd8013 and tested it in another machine. However, nothing happens when I boot the websurfer with the card in; after the "please wait" screen, the cursor just hangs. No DHCP request is sent, let alone any tftp activity. I'm not beaten yet though; I'll keep trying and report back any success.

Hey, I'm interested too! I've been pulling my hair out trying to get Linux to run off the DOC and have had one problem after another with getting the dang thing to work until I ended up corrupting the Linux install I had on the HD hooked up to the WSP to work from.
Wold it be possible to just take a DOS image dump of the DOC (using the DOC utilities) and just distribute that? Would be a LOT easier!
Let me know... crazybiker_ga@yahoo.com

My image of my DOC is nothing more than plilo and a kernel. Unfortunately as someone pointed out I cant distribute the kernel in a binary form.
