getting sound and networking working on the DOC
Installing Linux on the DOC

Has anyone gotten linux working on the DOC?
I went through the procedure on the m-sys.com website, then installed LEM (linux embedded, http://www.linux-embedded.com) on the DOC. It works fine, I just can't get sound to work, or networking (I need to mount a samba share).

I'd also like to get X working, and xmms.

If anyone has done this please help, and if anyone would like to help me accomplish this, lets get something together.

I've been researching the hardware support available for the WSP's in linux. According to the OSS FAQ (available at http://www.linux.org.uk/OSS/ ), the Cyrix MediaGX chipset is actually soundblaster compatable enough to use the linux SB driver. (for playback only), as well as MPU-401 (for midi) and OPL3. Thus, a quick recompile of the kernel is necessary. As for getting networking to operate, I couldn't get the kernel small enough with networking enabled, (granted, I'm using the DOC as the boot device), so I'm leaving that disabled. Just a note: my development for the WSP is being done on a redhat 7 system, using kernel 2.2.16 and the DOC patches from M-Systems. I've considered using syslinux, but that's on the back burner right now.
