I've been researching the hardware support available for the WSP's in linux. According to the OSS FAQ (available at http://www.linux.org.uk/OSS/ ), the Cyrix MediaGX chipset is actually soundblaster compatable enough to use the linux SB driver. (for playback only), as well as MPU-401 (for midi) and OPL3. Thus, a quick recompile of the kernel is necessary. As for getting networking to operate, I couldn't get the kernel small enough with networking enabled, (granted, I'm using the DOC as the boot device), so I'm leaving that disabled. Just a note: my development for the WSP is being done on a redhat 7 system, using kernel 2.2.16 and the DOC patches from M-Systems. I've considered using syslinux, but that's on the back burner right now. -- Vector | |
