Hello, just wondering how everyone is cooling the websurfer after it's case has been closed.

my websurfer heat up like hell that's because i have no other cooling than it's original cpu fan , and my 3.5 inch harddrive is mounted to the top agaist the cover.

much thanks.

I have my websurfer running at the default speed of 180Mhz. It has 2 network cards and is running linux router project. I am running it as both a gateway for my cable modem and as a webserver. All this from the DOC. I put an oversized heatsink on the cpu and have had no problems. Pretty strange to see a machine boot up in silence. It took me about 6 months to get it configured just right. It has been up 24/7 for 17 days now with no problems.

thanks for the response.

can i ask you if you use the 3.5 or 2.5 inch harddrives and where you have that mounted? where does the harddrive circuit side face? up or down?

also, i've been having problems getting a linux distro to boot up on my iopener. i've tried suse 6.4 as well as mandrake 7. i installed it on my desktop then moved it over to the websurfer. it said something about a kernel panic and stopped the boot. i couldn't get win2k advance server booted as well. i got win98 too boot no problems.

do you know how i can make the cdrom bootable? i've tried making the cdrom master and the hd slave with it's own jumpers. it uses the 1st ide channel with the hd taking the first socket and the cdrom taking the 2nd socket of the cable. i have the boot sequence in bios as cdrom,c and have flashed the bios to newbios image privided at the geocities diversity webpage.

thanks.
