Booting from CD/ROM
Looking for help with booting

I have a problem booting from CD.

I have a SIIG ISA IDE controller
I have a 2+ gig drive set up as master
I have an 8x speed atapi CDROM set up as slave

All onboard features except sound disabled.

The bios recognises the HD as C, it doesn't seem to recognise the CD

No matter what I do with the bios it always boots from the HD. I can boot Win95 or Linux.

The wierd thing is that I can see the CDROM from the OS I just can't get the damn drive to boot!

Any ideas?

Could you let us know how you fixed it? I haven't been able to do that at all.

Thanks!

I hope this helps. Excuse me if it's a bit basic.

Remove the Disk On Chip, I think you may need this to reach the bios first but once you've configd the drives remove the chip.
Set the harddrive up as the master and the cdrom as the slave.
Disable everything on the interface card except ide.
Plug the harddrive in the end connector and the cdrom in the middle connector.
During boot hold down del and enter the bios set up.
Disable everything in the bios usb/serial etc.
Configure the harddriveto the bios, I did an auto and then selected the correct drive.
Set the cdrom to auto.
There are two places in the bios to set up the drives.
Set the boot sequence to CD then C
Machine should now boot properly from either Cd or harddrive.
Once you have the machine booting you can turn on wwhatever you need, for me that's sound and usb.
