266MHz Media GX Overclocked to 300MHz

Last night I put in a Cyrix Media GX 266MHz 2.9v cpu in the WSP. Pegged it out a 33MHz bus and 10x mult. erratic boot with linux
and random lock up. steped down to 9x and
it work fine for hours. It also worked at
30MHz bus with 10x mult. On linux the bogus
mips value was 99 for 30x10 and 100 for 33x9.
Thats 300MHz and 297MHz respectively.

What kind of chip is that? Is that just the regular MII? will the MII work? Because they are really cheap

I did some research last night, and it looks as though only a Cyrix MediaGX or MediaGXm will work. The GX's seem to stop at 180 mhz (?) but the GXm's went up to 300mhz. Problem is most of these chips were soldered on boards or something like that. Im trying to find some NOT on a board already, which would be nice. I will post if I do manage to find some. Hopefully some nice company can get a hold of a bunch for us since they know that they could easily sell a bunch of those things. *hint hint* I guess that MediaGX and GXm have like built in video and sound or something like that, so a Cyrix MII wont work. The GX's have like some controller chip accessory thingy thats kinda like a math co-processor (bad analogy? i dunno..) im no expert by any means, so if this is a load of crap lemme know. I dont have the links anymore for my sources...but i just searched on the net. All I can say is I hope I get a hold of one of those 300mhz GXms...that would be nice...

Sorry about that. The chip that comes in the WSP is the GXm model with MMX. Not the GX...
