 | Lockups after audio driver install (modified 0 times) | spankyboy | |
I have a WS with modem pulled, DOC pulled and
clocked to 233 (larger heatsink/fan).
I have a Promise Ultra33 PCI IDE board installed with a 3.2G WD drive. Win98 installs/runs fine. When I update the audio drivers with files linked here, sound will work (although kinda scratchy) until first reboot after updating driver. Then as soon as the startup sound tries to play, LOCKUP.
I have reformatted and reinstalled just to try to duplicate the problem and it does the same thing. I looked through the hardware manager and saw no IRQ conflicts (before the reboot). Sound on IRQ5, Promise on IRQ14, video on IRQ10... Its acting like an IRQ conflict but I can't find one! If I boot into safe mode, I can't change any of the settings and if I remove the sound card then windows will just automatically add it back the next reboot. Any Ideas? | |
