RE:How to get power to HD (modified 0 times) 24_PLAY Profile Ok well I ran down to 37th and Bway (NYC)and got the last one...hee hee... threw a voltmeter on main set of wires coming from power supply....Lo and behold +5 and +12 with standard pc power connector colors...orange yellow black....if you dont get it ...sell it. threw in an old ISA HD/FD controller I just couldnt throw away....(and my wife calls me a packrat) found an old dusty 6.4gig WD drive in the junk box.....turned off the internal IDE controller from bios...saved settings..... ......Updating ESCD...... Oh my !!!!! Windows NT Server version 4 appeared....hmmmm figured it would just blue screen in a second..... no dice...it got to Ctrl-Alt-Del..... I was grinnin so hard the old lady knew she was gettin some tonite .... powered down....slapped in 128mb 100mhz Dimm i had layin around.... grabbed a 32x CDROM and as I'm typing this I'm waiting for win2k pro to finish its install over NT....wanted to see how far PNP would detect stuff.... Wait its finished lemme see if I can login false alarm its detecting stuff..second half of setup...and its not to slow.....at least it wasnt with NT...I'm sure Linux would be faster... btw the composite video out looks great at 640x480 on my 52" bigscreen....updates later...Peace 04-27-2000 19:25:57

RE:How to get power to HD (modified 0 times) oh-noooo It's not recomended using a computer on a projection tv because things that don't move on the screen(like the start button on windows) will get burned into the screen. you probable know this but just thought i would warn you 04-27-2000 19:33:07

You get a bracket to mount your drive on, it supplies its own power (from the bus) and it can support pretty much what the bios will support. RE:How to get power to HD (modified 0 times) Tony The easist way to get power to the HD/CD is too go get that trashed computer case ya got lying in the corner.....Rip it open, take your cutters and cut off a HD pigtail from the power supply inside...and the just match the colors with those on the power supply connector inside the Websurfer.....What ya know it works,..
