Using your own ISP (modified 0 times) 49.99 My websurfer pro is still sitting in it's unopened box (I just bought it this morning) as I ponder whether I should buy a second one and pay ca$h this time. Anyway, as I ponder, I was wondering if anyone has managed to circumnavigate the EarthLink ISP and connect to their own (freewwweb, being an ideal candidate)? If so, what's the scoop - is it an easy change? If anyone has plugged one of these in yet, I'd be interested in knowing what happens: you know, what info does it ask you for; does it dial Earthlink automatically, etc, etc? RE:Using your own ISP (modified 0 times) Jopasm I haven't plugged it in, but from reading the manuals it will use your ISP "out of the box" *BUT* it just uses it for the Internet connection - you still have to sign up for their service in order to use the capabilities of the box (it's just like WebTV - you can use a local ISP for dial-up access, but you still have to pay for WebTV service). 04-27-2000 12:41:37

RE:Using your own ISP (modified 0 times) webpimp I tested the dial up using the onboard OS. It appears that you have to go through websurfer's registration site before you can utilize your own ISP. I heard that there is a smaller charge for that, on top of your ISP. I got win98 running well on mine, I'd recommend the same for you... 04-28-2000 12:21:56
